Bedeutung der (ethnischen) Muttersprache für die Entwicklung des Kindes
„Welche Sprache sprechen Sie zu Hause mit Ihren Kindern?“, fragte ich vor kurzem eine Ghanaerin, „Deutsch oder Englisch oder die Sprache ihrer Familie?“
Die Antworten sind bei jedem anders. Die einen meinen: „Deutsch, denn wir leben ja in Deutschland.“ Andere sagen, „Englisch“, denn der Ehepartner habe eine andere ethnische Muttersprache. Wieder andere antworten: „Wir sprechen die Sprache meiner Familie, denn meine Kinder sollen ihre Verwandten verstehen können.“
Die Sprache, die zuhause gesprochen wird, hat große Auswirkungen auf das weitere Leben des Kindes, sowie auf seine Lern- und Leistungserfolge. Was ist das Beste für das Kind? Das fragen sich viele Familien. Genau darum geht es in unserer Veranstaltung.
Frau Gertrud Emmerich arbeitet mit kleinen Kindern, deren Eltern oft aus afrikanischen oder anderen Ländern kommen. Als Germanistin hat sie sich intensiv mit dieser Problematik beschäftigt. „Es geht um viel mehr als nur um die Sprache“, meint sie. „Es geht auch um die Entwicklung der Persönlichkeit des Kindes, seine Lernerfolge und wie es in der Gesellschaft klarkommt. Das Thema muss von vielen Seiten betrachtet werden.“an könne diese Thematik nicht mit einem Satz behandeln. Deshalb kommen Sie, machen Sie sich schlau.

„Which language do you speak at home with your children, German, English or the language of your family?“ I recently asked a friendly ghanaian woman this question.
Each time the answers were different. „We speak German, because we live in Germany and at school the children must be able to follow the teachers.“ „English“, was another answer, „because the children should be able to get around in Ghana when we move back. After all, my husband comes from another tribe. We have to communicate in English.“ „We want that our children to be able to understand our families at home. They shouldn‘t be strangers when visiting our parents and relatives, that‘s why we speak our mother tongue.“
The language spoken at home has a big effect on children‘s development. Definitely it influences their school results too. But what is the best for our child?, a question being often asked by many families. This is also the topic of our next meeting.
Ms Gertrud Emmerich works with young children, many of whom have migrant background. Being also a linguist she works intensively on this topic. „My subject covers much more than only the language“, she says „The development of the language always includes the development of the complete person, the personality, intelligence, success in studying and in society. We have to look at all these from different angles. The question of the language at home cannot be answered in a few sentences. It is of great importance.“

Tout récemment, j’ai posé cette question à une Ghanéenne: «Quelle langue parlez-vous à la maison avec vos enfants?», «l‘allemand, l‘anglais ou la langue maternelle?»
Les réponses à cette question sont variées. Pour certains, c‘est «l‘allemand, parce que nous vivons effectivement en Allemagne». D‘autres disent, «l‘anglais ou le français» parce que les époux sont d‘ethnies différentes. D‘autres encore disent: «Nous parlons la langue de ma famille, pour que mes enfants puissent communiquer avec leurs parents au pays.»
La langue parlée à la maison, est très importante pour le devenir de l‘enfant, pour sa capacité à apprendre et pour son rendement intellectuel. Beaucoup de familles se posent la question de savoir ce qui est mieux pour l‘enfant. C‘est justement, l‘objet de notre séminaire.
Mme Gertrud Emmerich, qui travail avec de petits enfants, s‘est intensivement penchée sur cette problématique. «Au de-là de la langue, l‘enjeu ici, c‘est le développement de la personnalité de l‘enfant, ses succès dans l‘apprentissage et l‘intégration sociale. C‘est dire qu‘un tel thème doit être abordé en profondeur». C‘est pourquoi nous vous invitons à venir massivement à ce séminaire. Vous y serez informé.
